KENNEDY-DOUGLASS CENTER FOR THE ARTS

The Kennedy-Douglass Art Center (KDAC) opened in 1976 and includes three historic buildings dedicated to the promotion and celebration of the arts. The center offers the community opportunities for hands-on learning and self-discovery within its many exhibition galleries, workshop studios, and outdoor spaces. Also, it serves as administrative office for the City of Florence Arts & Museums (FAM).

The KDAC hosts annual and rotating art exhibits, workshops, and classes for people of all ages. Each May, the KD Volunteers host Arts Alive, a two-day art festival where proceeds go to art education and endowments. The KDAC supports and encourages art for all through programs, collections, and events. We believe appreciation of the arts builds common bonds between people and strengthens community.

The Kennedy-Douglass Arts Volunteers

The Kennedy-Douglass Arts Volunteers, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, have fostered and encouraged public appreciation of the arts and humanities in the Shoals area since 1978. They formally established an organization in 1982 to develop opportunities to fund and provide arts and humanities education for the community and in area schools. The Kennedy Douglass Volunteers organize and promote programs and events throughout the year to engage the public interest in Florence Arts and Museums which are the cultural centers of Florence.
