KENNEDY-DOUGLASS CENTER FOR THE ARTS
The Kennedy-Douglass Art Center, headquarters for the Arts and Museums Department, is comprised of art galleries, classrooms, art studios, community meeting and workshop spaces, an outdoor sculpture garden and a ceramics studio. Situated across the street from Wilson Park, the Art Center has a dynamic presence in downtown Florence and the three-building complex invites creative activity, exhibition, collaboration, and education.
The mission of Kenney-Douglass Center for the Arts is to engage the community with the arts through exhibits, education, programs and events. We welcome our Florence community and visitors from across the state and country alike to discover and enjoy extraordinary works of art, explore new ideas, and cultivate new insights into culture and the act of creation. The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts encourages transformative encounters with works of art and contemplation of the human story.
The Kennedy-Douglass Arts Volunteers
The Kennedy-Douglass Arts Volunteers, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, have been serving arts education in the Shoals area since 1978. They formally established an organization in 1982 with the purposes to foster public appreciation of the arts. Annually, the Kennedy Douglass Volunteers raise thousands of dollars to fund public arts education.
