Join us for a program and activity at the Florence Indian Mound Museum. The program in December will focus on Choctaw leader Pushmataha, who worked for peace and for the rights of the Choctaw people. Pushmataha helped Andrew Jackson and the Americans fight the Red Stick Creeks during the Creek War and fought at the Battle of New Orleans in 1814 during the War of 1812. Pushmataha later resisted treaties that forced the Choctaw to give up their land in Mississippi.
This program is free and is made possible by the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area. Contact us at connect@florencealmuseums.com if you would like to volunteer to help with this program.
