Hannah Garmon: “Historic Preservation in Alabama”

The Florence Arts and Museums Speaker Series is a monthly program meant to inspire conversations about the history and culture of north Alabama, with a focus on how the past shapes the present. This month, Hannah Garmon’s presentation, “Historic Preservation in Alabama,” will be available at 2pm on Sunday, February 27th.

The presentation will discuss the various preservation programs that the Alabama Historical Commission facilitates throughout the state. Hannah Garmon is from the small town of Cordova, Alabama. She attended the University of North Alabama where she earned a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Political Science. She also earned her master’s degree in May of 2015 in History with a concentration in Public History from UNA. She currently works for the Alabama Historical Commission as the State Tax Incentives and Survey Coordinator. Her interests include gothic revival architecture in Alabama, Civil Rights history, and anything true crime related. She lives in Montgomery with her husband, son, and two dogs.
